Newbury Tanker Truck Overturns Spills Gas Into Lake

This is 100 yards from our house! We were not evacuated, but had a hard time trying to get back as most of the roads into the lake were closed. The lake they are talking about was not our lake but the one across the road.

Review: Aldi Brand Bremer's Chicken Pot Pies

Haven't had single pot pies in a while, so whilst at Aldi's I saw their own brand, so I thought I'g give 'em a spin.

I am not a fan of microwave pot pies, and I stopped buying the Morton and Banquet Pot Pies when they came out with those, as they just did not taste right. Also there are many brands out there with no bottom crust, a pot pie travesty!

"Before" still frozen but almost looked cooked due to the color.

In the oven almost done.

So Aldi's brand can be cooked in a regular oven, so that is better for a nice brown crust. Microwave pot pies already have the crust colored a bit to make them look like they are golden brown.

Looks: I could not get it out of the cup and stand on it's own, and the crust did not match the golden brown on the picture, nor did the ratio of chicken, and veggies match the picture either. 2 out of 5

Taste: Lots better that Banquet, but still not as good as the old kind they used to make before microwavable ones came out, in the aluminum pans. 3 out of 5

I would get them again for a quick dinner/snack

Sonic Buy One Get One Free BOGO Milkshakes

We saw the ad on TV for the free milkshakes at Sonic, so even though the nearest one is like 26 miles away, we took a nice country drive on our little Geo Metro Convertible, and went to check them out.

I had chocolate, and my wife had Oreo Cookie.

They were $2.99 each, and the Oreos added was 50 cents more.

The 2nd one was free as advertised.

I like the drive-in concept, and I try to go to local Mom and Pop places, so for a chain they are good.

We ate there last month, had burgers, fries, onion rings, they were good as expected.

The prices seem a little much, but that is probably because I am an old fart and everything should still be 99 cents, yikes. Recommended - 4 stars on the Diner Scale.

We Saved A Little Wild Bird

While out for a drive to Sonic in Streetsboro, Ohio, to get in on the BOGO deal on milkshakes, we saw a little bird in the road, so we turned around and my wife got out, and fending off fast drivers, most people slowed down and were nice, but one guy in a big truck couldn't go by fast enough, yikes. She got to the poor little thing when it got to the side of the road.

It did not resist when she picked it up, and seemed not with it yet.

We think it was a finch, at first we thought it was a baby, but do not know for sure.

She got it to sit a little twig on a tree about 50 feet from the road, and it just sat there, but did flutter it's wings, so it looked OK as far as we could tell.

So, we left it there, and continued on, happy that the bird was OK.

The milkshakes were good.

The Roses are starting to bloom

The rose bush had several rose blossoms on it today.

They are still little.

But one was big, and crimson red.
